Itinerary
Depart early from Arusha and drive north towards Mkuru Village, located near the foothills of Mount Meru. Upon arrival at the camel camp, meet your local Maasai camel handlers and get briefed on the day's journey and camel riding techniques.
Begin your guided camel trek through scenic dry bushland, acacia woodlands, and volcanic terrain with breathtaking views of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. Along the way, encounter local Maasai herders tending cattle, and learn about traditional land use and pastoralism in this semi-arid region.
Take a break for a traditional picnic lunch, freshly prepared and served under a shady tree or within a rustic boma setup. After lunch, enjoy storytelling with the Maasai elders or participate in a short nature walk on foot to discover local herbs and cultural plants.
Continue your camel ride deeper into Mkuru’s remote trails, where giraffes and antelopes are occasionally spotted. Listen to birdsong, feel the sway of the saddle, and absorb the calm rhythm of slow travel.
