Itinerary
Your day begins early as you depart from your hotel in Arusha at dawn. Settle into your private 4x4 safari vehicle and enjoy a scenic drive through Maasai heartlands and vast open plains en route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Upon arrival at the gate, your guide will complete registration while you enjoy the cool highland air and views of the lush forest canopy. Then comes the dramatic descent into the 600-meter-deep crater a natural amphitheater of wildlife.
Inside the crater, you’ll encounter an astonishing variety of animals from herds of zebra, wildebeest, and Thomson’s gazelle to apex predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas. With luck, you may even spot the elusive black rhino or elephants among the fig trees.
A stop at Lake Magadi, a shallow soda lake at the crater’s center, will reveal flocks of flamingos and other vibrant birdlife. Nearby, enjoy your picnic lunch at the hippo pool just meters away from wallowing giants in their muddy oasis.
