Overview

Take the road less traveled with this immersive 5-day Mt. Meru climb Tanzania’s second-highest peak and an epic warm-up for Kilimanjaro. Towering at 4,562 meters, Mt. Meru rewards trekkers with panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, encounters with wildlife, and a serene alpine adventure through lush rainforest, crater ridges, and volcanic trails.

This journey combines safety, nature, and elegance with professional guides, hut accommodations, nutritious meals, and the spirit of authentic adventure.

Itinerary

Day 01 :

Arrival – Moshi Town

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our representative will welcome you and transfer you to a charming lodge in Moshi. Enjoy warm hospitality, cozy rooms, Wi-Fi, hot showers, a refreshing swimming pool, and tropical gardens.

In the evening, attend a pre-climb orientation with our experienced coordinators covering gear check, safety protocols, altitude awareness, and what to expect on the mountain.

Day 02 :

From Momella Gate to Mirikamba Hut

After breakfast, transfer to Arusha National Park (approx. 3 hrs) and complete park formalities at Momella Gate. Begin your trek with an armed ranger through lush rainforest encounter giraffes, zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and other wildlife along the scenic route.

Arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,500m) for hot lunch and relaxation.

Elevation Gain: 1,500m → 2,500m

Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)

Trekking Time: 5–6 hours

Altitude Tips;

Hydrate consistently (4+ liters/day)
Begin preventive altitude medication if advised by your doctor
Report any signs of AMS to your guide

Day 03 :

Mirikamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Start your day with a scenic hike through heath and moorland zones with sweeping crater views. As you gain altitude, the landscape opens up with expansive vistas.

Arrive at Saddle Hut (3,570m), your base for summit night. Optionally, join your guide for an acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) in the afternoon.

Elevation Gain: 2,500m → 3,570m

Distance: 8 km (4.9 miles)

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Meals: Hot lunch & dinner at camp

Day 04 :

Saddle Hut – Summit Mt. Mreru – Mirikamba Hut

Begin your summit attempt at midnight. Trek under starlight to Rhino Point (3,800m) and Cobra Point (4,350m), continuing along a narrow ridge to Socialist Peak (4,562m) Mt. Meru’s summit.

Celebrate your achievement with panoramic sunrise views over Mt. Kilimanjaro and the crater basin below. After descending to Saddle Hut for brunch and a break, continue to Miriakamba Hut for your overnight stay.

Day 05 :

From Mirikamba Hut to Momella Gate – Back to Moshi

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before a relaxed descent through forested trails back to Momella Gate. Your driver will be waiting for you to transfer the group to the lodge in Moshi for hot showers, rest, and a well-earned celebration dinner.

Trekking Time: 2–4 hours

Day 06 :

Departure

Enjoy your final Tanzanian breakfast before your transfer to the airport. Reflect on your journey, receive your climbing certificate, and bid farewell to your guides and mountain crew.
